Our Road walk on Good Nutrition, Exercise and Healthy Living

The foundation in fulfilling one of its objectives organized a road walk on good nutrition, exercise and healthy living to sensitize the general public on the importance of balance diet and exercise. The planning phase of the campaign involved designing educative fliers, mapping out the start and end point of the road walk, running online ads, providing free blood pressure checks and blood sugar checks, branded materials: t-shirts, face caps and hand towels, water for the road with a DJ and an MC bringing live and energy to the campaign.

Over 75 volunteers took part in the road show as people from all works of life united with one voice to promote healthy living for Nigerians. We had the honour of Pastor Wilson Akubo (Branch Pastor Family Worship, Wuye, Abuja) join us too.

The road walk began at 9:00am with little stretching exercises, coordinated by the MC SixFootPlus. Thereafter, with the guidance of officers from the Federal Road Safety Commission the campaign kicked off with music, excitement and fun. We stopped at strategic locations like the popular Utako market, Access Bank Utako as people’s attention were drawn to us  and received our message warmly.

Like everything that has a beginning has an end, the road walk ended by 11:20am. Pastor Wilson Akubo declared  “You are stronger than you think.” He said “we walked 7kms.” He charged us to practice what we have learned about good nutrition and exercise and he closed the activity with a prayer. Thereafter healthy juices were served to volunteers and healthcare professionals on ground conducted free blood sugar and pressure checks.

Dr Tochukwu Nnamoko (Executive Director of the Foundation) and his wife Mrs. Ifeatu Tochukwu were visibly present and played major active role in the road walk with the provision of cold bottled water and nutritious healthy juices as light refreshments for all the volunteers during and at the end of the road walk.

The road walk was a big success with an increased call for more.
