Touching lives at Easter Welfare/Medical Outreach at New Kuchingoro IDP Camp, Abuja
Across the world, Easter reminded us of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is observed with fasting and prayer among Christian faithfuls. It reminds us of His selflessness and love for man. His resurrection from the dead gives us a living hope. It symbolizes restoration from a seemingly defeat and hopelessness.
Likewise, the Tibilon Healthcare Foundation was part of many other teams that came together at the New Kuchingoro IDP Camp, an initiative of the One Billion Souls for Christ. The IDP was established by the Federal Government in 2021 to accommodate those who have been forcefully displaced by violence from Borno, Adamawa, Yobe and Bauchi States. The goal of the outreach was preach the gospel of Christ and help the needy within the community, identify with their various challenges and express the love of Christ.
Volunteers turned out massively as the outreach kicked off at 10:00am as sounds of praise and worship to God rent the air, registration began earnestly as the entire community responded warmly. They clapped and danced to God with joy in their hearts, forgetting whatever worries affected them before as a volunteer led the praise session.
Thereafter, the preaching of the Word and altar call, many souls received the life of Christ to the glory of God. While others were also prayed for, with signs and wonders taking place in individual lives. Counselling sessions and prayer with individuals also took place in a designated place.
Other activities slated began like free hair cut for both children and adult, free weaving of hair, free food (a pack of cooked jollof rice, akara and bread) and water, free clothes and shoes, free skill acquisition/ training, free medical consultation and drugs to treat malaria, vitamin c, children and adult cough syrups, infections and more were amply provided.
A particular unique activity was the availability of healthcare psychologist to help people suffering from one form of trauma or the other. This is critical to those in the IDPs as their mental health is critical to their continued existence based on their padt history of experiencing violence and loss of loved ones.
All the glory goes to God for a successful outcome to reach and care for the needy in our society
